6.ย้อนรอยอดีตกลับสู่เหตุการณ์ เมื่อครั้งหลวงปู่บรรลุธรรม ณ วัดโบสถ์บน บางคูเวียง
สวัสดี ท่านผู้มีบุญทุกท่าน
พวกเราเริ่มต้นปีใหม่ด้วยการทำบุญใหญ่มาอย่างต่อเนื่อง นับว่าเป็นสิริมงคลแก่ชีวิตเป็นอย่างมาก ตั้งแต่ส่งท้ายปีเก่าต้อนรับปีใหม่ด้วยการสวดมนต์ข้ามปีในคืนวันที่ 31ธันวาคมพุทธศักราช 2564ได้ฉลองชัยชิตังเม ต่อด้วยบุญวันเสาร์ที่ 1 มกราคม พุทธศักราช 2565 ก็มาร่วมพิธีบูชาข้าวพระกัน
ในวันและคืนที่ผ่านมาเมื่อวันที่ 2 วันที่ 5 วันที่ 8 และวันที่ 9 มกราคม ภาพแห่งความประทับใจที่พวกเราร่วมกันเปล่งเสียงสาธุการต้อนรับพระธรรมยาตราผ่านซูม และได้เห็นความสว่างไสวแห่งแสงธรรมอำไพอันสว่างไสวในพิธีจุดประทีปบูชาธรรมกันมาแล้ว
วันนี้วันที่ 16 มกราคม เราจะได้พร้อมเพรียงร่วมกันต้อนรับพระธรรมยาตรากันให้ปลื้มปีติใจกันอีกครั้ง คราวนี้พวกเราทุกคนมารวมใจน้อมรำลึกบูชาธรรมไปยังสถานที่สำคัญบนเส้นทางมหาปูชนียาจารย์ ลำดับที่ 4 ของพระเดชพระคุณหลวงปู่
ที่แห่งนั้นคือ สถานที่เกิดใหม่ด้วยกายธรรม วัดโบสถ์บน ต.บางคูเวียง อ.บางกรวย จ.นนทบุรี

- Retracing the past, returning to the time when Luang Pu attained the Dhamma at Wat Bot Bon, Bang Khu Wiang
Hello all attendees,
We have started the New Year by continuously making merit during the Dhammayatra Project. Since welcoming the New Year with overnight chanting on the night of December 31st, Buddhist Era 2021, we have celebrated the victory (Chi Tang Mae) and continued making merit on Saturday, January 1, 2022 B.E., with our monthly offering food to the Lord Buddha ceremony.
In the past days and nights on the 2nd, the 5th, the 8th and the 9th of January, the image welcoming the Dhammayatra monks through zoom and the brightness of the Dhamma light that shines brightly in the candle lighting ceremony has made an impression on us all.
Today, January 16th, we will be united to welcome the Dhammayatra monks together again. This time, we all come together to pay homage to Lord Buddha and Great Master to the fourth pilgrimage site of Luang Pu Wat Paknam.
That is, the birth place of the Dhamma Body of our Great Master at Wat Bot Bon, Bang Khu Wiang.
การบรรลุธรรม
Attaining Phra Dhammakaya
ในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 10 (ปี พ.ศ. 2460) เมื่อกลับจากบิณฑบาตแล้ว ท่านก็เข้าไปนั่งสมาธิเจริญภาวนาในพระอุโบสถ ขณะนั้นเวลาประมาณ 8 โมงเศษๆ ท่านก็เริ่มทำความเพียร โดยตั้งใจว่าหากยังไม่ได้ยินเสียงกลองเพล จะไม่ยอมลุกจากที่ เมื่อตั้งใจดังนั้นแล้ว ก็หลับตาภาวนา “สัมมา อะระหัง” ไปเรื่อยๆ จนกระทั่งความปวดเมื่อย และอาการเหน็บชาค่อยๆ เพิ่มทีละน้อยๆ และมากขึ้นจนมีความรู้สึกว่ากระดูกทุกชิ้นแทบจะระเบิดหลุดออกมาเป็นชิ้นๆ จนเกือบจะหมดความอดทน ความกระวนกระวายใจก็ตามมา
On the 15th day of the 10th waxing moon (in B.E. 2460), Luang Pu went into the Buddhist chapel to practice meditation after he returned from his alms-round. It was then sometime after 8 a.m. Luang Pu was determined to practice meditation until he heard the midday meal gong. He began practicing meditation by closing his eyes and chanting the mantra “samma arahang‟ continuously. As Luang Pu proceeded with his meditation, the pain and numbness gradually increased to the point where he felt as if every bone in his body was about to splinter into bits and he started to feel anxious.
“เอ…แต่ก่อนเราไม่เคยรู้สึกเช่นนี้เลย พอตั้งสัจจะลงไปว่า ถ้ากลองเพลไม่ดังจะไม่ลุกจากที่ เหตุใดมันจึงเพิ่มความกระวนกระวายใจมากมายอย่างนี้ ผิดกว่าครั้งก่อนๆ ที่นั่งภาวนา เมื่อไรหนอ กลองเพลจึงจะดังสักที” คิดไปจิตก็ยิ่งแกว่งและชัดส่ายมากขึ้น จนเกือบจะเลิกนั่งหลายครั้ง แต่เมื่อได้ตั้งสัจจะไปแล้วท่านก็ทนนั่งต่อไป ในที่สุดใจก็ค่อยๆ สงบลงทีละน้อย แล้วรวมหยุดเป็นจุดเดียวกัน เห็นเป็นดวงใสบริสุทธิ์ขนาดเท่าฟองไข่แดงของไก่ ในใจชุ่มชื่นเบิกบานอย่างบอกไม่ถูก ความปวดเมื่อยหายไปไหนไม่ทราบ ในเวลาเดียวกันนั้นเสียงกลองเพลก็ดังขึ้น
“This has never happened to me before. It is odd that as soon as I made up my mind not to rise until I hear the midday gong, I should experience such an intense level of discomfort and anxiety. Now, all I can think of is when the midday gone is going to sound.” As Luang Pu’s mind became more and more perturbed, he thought about quitting many times. He would have quit, except for the fact that he had already given his word. Finally, his mind began to gradually settle, little by little, until it became completely still and the next thing he experienced was a bright crystal sphere the size of an egg-yolk at the center of his body. This inner experience left Luang Pu feeling incredibly refreshed and joyful. It was then that all of the aches and pain in his body evaporated. And he heard the midday gong.
วันนั้นท่านมีความสุขตลอดทั้งวัน ดวงธรรมขั้นต้นซึ่งเป็นดวงใสก็ยังเห็นติดอยู่ตรงศูนย์กลางกายตลอดเวลา ในช่วงเย็น หลังจากได้ร่วมลงฟังพระปาฏิโมกข์กับเพื่อนภิกษุ ท่านได้เข้าไปในพระอุโบสถแล้วตั้งสัตยาธิษฐานว่า “แม้เลือดเนื้อจะแห้งเหือดหายไป เหลือแต่หนัง เอ็น กระดูก ก็ตามที ถ้านั่งลงไปแล้ว ไม่บรรลุธรรมที่พระพุทธเจ้าทรงเห็น จะไม่ยอมลุกขึ้นจากที่จนตลอดชีวิต” เมื่อตั้งจิตอธิษฐานเสร็จจึงเริ่มนั่งและตั้งจิตอ้อนวอนแด่พระพุทธเจ้าว่า
Luang Pu felt happy all day long. He could still “see‟ with his mind the bright crystal sphere at the center of his body all the time. That evening, after having listened to the chanting of „Patimokkha‟ together with his fellow monks, Luang Pu went inside the Upasatha Hall once again to practice meditation. He made a vow, “My flesh and blood can dry up leaving only skin, tendons, and bones. Once I sit down, I will not rise again from this seat until I can attain the Lord Buddha’s enlightened Knowledge.” After Luang Pu made the vow, he prayed to the Lord Buddha,
“ขอพระองค์ได้ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดข้าพระพุทธเจ้า ทรงประทานธรรมที่พระองค์ได้ตรัสรู้อย่างน้อยที่สุดแลง่ายที่สุด ที่พระองค์ได้ทรงรู้แล้วแก่ข้าพระพุทธเจ้า ถ้าข้าพระพุทธเจ้ารู้ธรรมของพระองค์แล้วเป็นโทษแก่ศาสนาของพระองค์แล้ว ขอพระองค์อย่าทรงพระราชทานเลย ถ้าเป็นคุณแก่ศาสนาของพระองค์แล้ว ขอพระองค์ได้ทรงพระกรุณา โปรดพระราชทานแก่ข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์รับเป็นทนายศาสนาในศาสนาของพระองค์ไปจนตลอดชีวิต”
“May the Most Exalted One show me compassion and grant me the least and easiest of your enlightened Knowledge. Should my attainment of your enlightened Knowledge bring harm to Buddhism, don’t grant it to me, but if it can benefit Buddhism then please grant it to me and I will spend the rest of my life to devoutly defend the Buddhist Faith.”
เมื่อท่านตั้งความปรารถนาแล้ว ก็เริ่มนั่งขัดสมาธิเข้าที่ภาวนา พอดีนึกถึงมดขี้ที่อยู่ในระหว่างช่องแผ่นหินซึ่งกำลังไต่ไปมา จึงหยิบขวดน้ำมันก๊าด เอานิ้วมือจุ่ม เพื่อจะเขียนวงให้รอบตัวกันมดรบกวน แต่พอจรดนิ้วที่พื้นหินยังไม่ถึงครึ่งวง ก็เกิดความคิดขึ้นมาว่า ชีวิตสละได้ แต่ทำไมยังกลัวมดขี้อยู่เล่า นึกละอายตัวเอง จึงวางขวดน้ำมันลง แล้วนั่งเข้าที่ได้ประมาณครึ่งหรือค่อนคืน เมื่อใจหยุดเป็นจุดเดียวกัน ก็มองเห็นดวงใสบริสุทธิ์ขนาดเท่าฟองไข่แดงของไก่ ซึ่งยังติดอยู่ที่ศูนย์กลางกายจากเมื่อเพล ยิ่งมองยิ่งใส
สว่างมากขึ้น และขยายใหญ่ขนาดเท่าดวงอาทิตย์ ดวงใสยังคงสว่างอยู่อย่างนั้น โดยที่ท่านก็ไม่ทราบว่าจะทำอย่างไรต่อไป เพราะทุกสำนักที่ท่านได้ศึกษามาไม่เคยมีประสบการณ์เช่นนี้มาก่อน
Luang Pu started to get into the half-lotus position when he saw that ants began creeping near his seat. He picked up the gasoline bottle, dipped a finger into it in order to draw a circle around his seat. He did not yet draw half a circle when he realized how he had already vowed never to rise again until he could attain enlightenment just moments earlier, therefore there is no use in being afraid of being bitten by ants. Luang Pu put the gasoline bottle down and began his meditation. He sat concentrating on the crystal sphere at the center of his body, which he could still “see” since before lunch. As his mind became more and more still, the crystal sphere became clearer and brighter and its size grew to be the size of the sun. Luang Pu had no idea how to proceed from there because no one he knew had ever had such an inner experience before.
ขณะที่ใจหยุดนิ่งอยู่ตรงนั้น ก็มีเสียงหนึ่งดังขึ้นมาจากจุดกลางดวงนั้นว่า “มัชฌิมา ปฏิปทา” แต่ขณะที่เสียงนั้นดังแผ่วขึ้นมาในความรู้สึก ก็เห็นจุดเล็กๆ เรืองแสง สว่างวาบขึ้นมาจากกลางดวงนั้น เสมือนจุดศูนย์กลางของวงกลม ความสว่างของจุดนั้นสว่างกว่าวงกลมรอบๆ ท่านมองเรื่อยไป พลางคิดในใจว่า นี่กระมังทางสายกลาง จุดเล็กที่เราเพิ่งจะเห็นเดี๋ยวนี้อยู่กึ่งกลางพอดี ลองมองดูซิจะเกิดอะไรขึ้น
While Luang Pu’s mind was concentrated on the crystal sphere, he heard a voice arising from the crystal sphere. It said, “Majjhima Patipada.” Along with hearing the voice, Luang Pu also saw a pinpoint, which sparkled brightly at the center of the crystal sphere. Its brightness far surpassed that of the crystal sphere itself. Luang Pu focused his attention on the bright pinpoint and thought, “I suppose this is the Middle Way because the pinpoint is exactly at the center of the crystal sphere. I‟ll keep focusing my attention on it and see what happens.”
จุดนั้นค่อยๆ ขยายขึ้นและโตเท่ากับดวงเดิม ดวงเก่าหายไป ท่านมองไปเรื่อยๆ ก็เห็นดวงใหม่ลอยขึ้นมาแทนที่ เหมือนน้ำพุที่พุ่งขึ้นมาแทนที่กันนั่นแหละ ต่างแต่ใสยิ่งขึ้นกว่าดวงเดิม ในที่สุดก็เห็นกายต่างๆ ผุดช้อนกันขึ้นมาจนถึงธรรมกาย เป็นพระปฏิมากร เกตุดอกบัวตูม ใสบริสุทธิ์ยิ่งกว่าพระพุทธรูปบูชาองค์ใด เสียงพระธรรมกายกังวานขึ้นมาในความรู้สึกว่า “ถูกต้องแล้ว” เท่านั้นแหละ ความปิติสุขก็เกิดขึ้นอย่างไม่เคยเป็นมาก่อน ท่านถึงกับรำพึงออกมาเบาๆ ว่า
The pinpoint gradually enlarged itself until it was the size of the first crystal sphere. The first crystal sphere had by then disappeared from sight. As Luang Pu concentrated on the second crystal sphere, a third crystal sphere appeared. Each new crystal sphere was clearer and brighter than the former one. Finally, Luang Pu “saw‟ the respective inner bodies all the way to Phra Dhammakaya. Luang Pu said that Phra Dhammakaya looks like the Buddha Image with a small lotus bloom on top of His raised crown, except that Phra Dhammakaya is purer and clearer than any existing Buddha Image he has ever seen. Luang Pu then heard Phra Dhammakaya’s voice that said, “Well done.” Those words were enough to send Luang Pu into a state of pure bliss. He murmured to himself,
“เออ…มันยากอย่างนี้นี่เอง ถึงได้ไม่บรรลุกัน ความเห็น ความจำ ความคิด ความรู้ ต้องรวมเป็นจุดเดียวกัน เมื่อหยุดแล้วจึงตับ เมื่อตับแล้วจึงเกิด”
“Ah! This is indeed very difficult. No wonder it has not been attainable. Perception, memory, the thought process, and cognition must converge together. Cessation brings about extinguishment. Extinguishment brings about birth.”
การค้นพบวิชชาธรรมกายอันเป็นของจริงของแท้ เป็นทางบรรลุธรรมที่องค์สมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า ได้ทรงบรรลุมาแล้ว เป็นสิ่งที่ละเอียดลึกซึ้งมาก ท่านจึงมาคำนึงว่า “คัมภีโรจายัง’ ธรรมเป็นของลึกถึงเพียงนี้ใครจะไปคิดคาดคะเนเอาได้พ้นวิสัยของความตรึกนึกคิดถ้ายังตรึกนึกคิดอยู่ก็เข้าไม่ถึง ที่จะเข้าถึงได้ ต้องทำให้รู้ตรึก รู้นึก รู้คิดนั้น หยุดเป็นจุดเดียวกัน แต่พอหยุดก็ดับ แต่พอดับแล้วก็เกิด ถ้าไม่ดับแล้วไม่เกิด นี่เป็นของจริง หัวต่อมีเป็นอยู่ตรงนี้ ถ้าไม่ถูกส่วนดังนี้แล้ว ก็ไม่มีไม่เป็นเด็ดขาด”
Vijja Dhammakaya, which is authentic and true, is the very means by which each Lord Buddha attains Self-Enlightenment. Vijja Dhammakaya is extremely refined and profound. Luang Pu thought about “The Dhamma is so profound that it cannot be postulated. It is beyond reflection, imagination, and the thought process. As long as we still use our reflection, imagination, and thought process, we can never attain it. We must converge together our reflection, imagination, and thought process so that cessation can be achieved. Cessation brings about extinguishment. Extinguishment brings about birth. No extinguishment, no birth. This phenomenon is authentic and true. This is the gateway. If this experience does not occur, enlightenment can never be attained.”
นับเป็นบุญและเป็นพระคุณอันยิ่งใหญ่ของพระเดชพระคุณหลวงปู่ที่ท่านได้สละชีวิตเป็นเดิมพันจนกระทั่งบรรลุธรรมค้นพบวิชชาธรรมกาย เป็นเส้นทางนำพาชีวิตให้หลุดพ้นจากความทุกข์ทั้งปวง เส้นทางสายกลาง มัชฌิมาปฏิปทา เส้นทางสู่ธรรมปฏิบัติที่พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงดำเนินผ่านมาแล้ว เป็นการค้นพบที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สำคัญที่สุดต่อมวลมนุษยชาติ
พระเดชพระคุณหลวงปู่ท่านเป็นผู้มีความเมตตากรุณาไม่มีประมาณ เป็นมหาปูชะนียาจาย์ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ได้เมตตาเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนาวิชชาธรรมกาย เพื่อให้ทุกชีวิตได้ศึกษาธรรมปฏิบัติจะได้หลุดพ้นจากทุกข์ทั้งปวง
ด้วยคุณธรรมอันสูงส่งของท่าน พวกเราเหล่าศิษยานุศิษย์ไม่อาจจะหาสิ่งใดตอบแทนพระคุณอันยิ่งใหญ่ได้หมดสิ้น นอกจากทำตามคำแนะนำสั่งสอนของท่าน เพราะพวกเราหาครูดีพบแล้ว ฟังคำครูแล้วควรทำตามคำครูสอน พากเพียรปฏิบัติตามให้ได้ผลดีเจริญรอยท่าน
ต่อจากนี้ไป ขอให้พวกเราส่งใจไปยังสถานที่บรรลุธรรม น้อมรำลึกถึงคุณธรรมของพระเดชพระคุณหลวงปู่กันนะ พร้อมกันนี้ก็ร่วมกันเปล่งเสียงสาธุการต้อนรับและอนุโมทนาบุญกับพระธรรมยาตรา ซึ่งท่านได้ตั้งใจฝึกตน ตั้งใจปฏิบัติธรรม
It is by the great merit and grace of Luang Pu who sacrificed his life to attain the Dhamma, allowing him to rediscover Vijja Dhammakaya. It is the path that leads life out of all suffering. It is the middle path of the Dharma practice that the Lord Buddha has walked. It is the greatest discovery that is most important to mankind.
Luang Pu is a person who has loving kindness without limitations. He is our Great Master who propagates Buddhism with Vijja Dhammakaya so every life may have a chance to study and practice in order to be free from suffering.
With his virtue, we, the disciples, are unable to obtain anything in return for his great compassion. In addition to following the Great Master’s instructions, we have found a good teacher After listening to the teacher’s words, one should follow the teacher’s words diligently in order to achieve the greatest results.
From now on, let us send our minds to the place of enlightenment. Let’s remember the virtues of Great Master Phra Mongkolthepmuni. At the same time, let us rejoice and welcome the Dhammayatra Monks for their efforts in intending to train and to discipline themselves to attain the Dhamma.
วันนี้เป็นอีกวันหนึ่งที่เราทุกท่านล้วนปลื้มปีติในบุญกันมาก บุญเป็นเบื้องหลังความสุขและความสำเร็จ กระแสบุญเชื่อมโยงคุณความดีที่เราสั่งสมไว้ และดึงดูดแต่สิ่งที่ดีๆ เข้ามาในชีวิต อานุภาพบุญดึงดูดรูปสมบัติ ทรัพย์สมบัติและคุณสมบัติ มีกำลังบุญมากชีวิตก็ราบรื่นเป็นสุข

“Punna” or “Merit”
คุณเคยสังเกตหรือไม่?
เวลาเราทำสิ่งดีๆ ช่วยเหลือผู้อื่น ไม่ว่าจะช่วยด้วยแรงกาย แรงสติปัญญา แบ่งปันสิ่งของ หรือพูดให้กำลังใจ จนทำให้เขามีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ที่ดีขึ้น แม้บางครั้งเราจะเหนื่อย แต่กลับรู้สึกอิ่มเอิบเบิกบาน ภาคภูมิใจ มีความสุข จากการที่เราได้เป็นผู้ให้
ความรู้สึกอิ่มเอิบเบิกบาน ความสุขที่เกิดขึ้นในใจนั้น ก็คืออาการของ “บุญ” นั่นเอง
Have you ever noticed that whenever you do something to help someone, such as sharing what you have with him, encouraging him, lending him money in times of need, etc., you feel happy when you do it?
The feeling of joy and happiness whenever one does something good for another person is the sign that Punna or merit has been earned.
“บุญ” คืออะไร?
What Is “Punna” or Merit?
บุญ คือ พลังงานอย่างหนึ่ง ที่ละเอียด ประณีต และทรงพลังอย่างยิ่ง เป็นเครื่องชำระล้างใจให้ใสสะอาด บริสุทธิ์ ผ่องใส ห่างไกลจากกิเลสเครื่องเศร้าหมองทั้งหลาย
Punna or merit is a form of energy that is extremely refined and extremely powerful. It has the power to cleanse one’s mind causing it to be clean, pure, bright, clear, and free from defilements.
แม้เราจะมองไม่เห็นบุญ แต่สัมผัสกระแสของบุญได้ เช่น เมื่อเราทำความดี บุญจะหลั่งไหลมาสู่ใจเรา ทำให้เราสบายใจ จิตผ่องใส เบิกบาน ความรู้สึกเหล่านี้ คืออาการของบุญ เปรียบได้กับกระแสไฟฟ้าที่มองไม่เห็น แต่เมื่อเราเปิดสวิตช์ กระแสไฟเข้าไปในหลอดไฟเกิดเป็นแสงสว่างให้เรามองเห็นได้ เข้าไปในเตารีดกลายเป็นความร้อนให้เราสัมผัสได้ เป็นต้น
One may not be able to see Punna just yet, but one can certainly feel its current. For example, when one performs a wholesome deed, Punna is earned and it flows into one’s mind making one feel good, cheerful, and joyful. The current of Punna can be compared to the electric current which is invisible but can cause the light to come on when one turns on the light switch.

Punna and Its Fruits
เมื่อเราทำบุญแล้ว ย่อมเกิดผลกับตัวเรา 4 ระดับ คือ
The fruits of Punna (merit) can be witnessed at four different levels as follows.
- ระดับจิตใจ เป็นบุญที่เกิดผลทันที คือ ทำความดีปุ๊บก็เกิดผลระดับจิตใจปั๊บ ไม่ต้องรอชาติหน้า ทำให้…
– สุขภาพใจดีขึ้น คือ ใจเย็น ตั้งมั่น ไม่หวั่นไหวต่อสิ่งต่างๆ ทั้งดีและร้าย เช่น คำยกยอ คำตำหนิติเตียน
– สมรรถภาพของใจดีขึ้น คือ เป็นใจที่สะอาด ผ่องใส ใช้คิดเรื่องราวต่าง ๆ ได้รวดเร็ว ว่องไว ลึกซึ้ง กว้างไกล รอบคอบ เป็นระเบียบ ทำให้ตัดสินใจได้ถูกต้อง เฉียบขาด ฉับไว
- At the Heart and Mind Level: As soon as one performs a wholesome deed, one can feel the effect of Punna instantly without having to wait until the next lifetime.
– Punna improves one’s emotional health in that it causes one to be serene, steadfast, and not easily perturbed by things good or bad.
– Punna improves the quality of one’s mind in that it becomes cleaner, brighter, and clearer. Therefore, one can think things through quickly, deeply, widely, thoroughly, and systematically such that one can make correct, precise, and quick decisions.

– หน้าตาผิวพรรณผ่องใส เพราะบุญทำให้ใจสงบ แช่มชื่น เบิกบาน นอนหลับสบาย ไม่มีความกังวลหม่นหมอง
– มีบุคลิกภาพที่ดี เพราะใจที่เปี่ยมด้วยบุญ จะไม่คิดโลภอยากได้ของใคร ไม่คิดสร้างความเดือดร้อนให้ใคร มีแต่คิดช่วยเหลือเขา จึงมีความมั่นใจในตัวเอง มีความองอาจสง่างามอยู่ในตัว ไปที่ไหนก็สามารถวางตัวได้พอเหมาะพอดี บุคลิกภาพย่อมดีขึ้นตามลำดับ
- At the Personality Level: Whoever accumulates Punna regularly will be blessed with…
– A brighter and clearer countenance and complexion because Punna causes one to feel calm, joyful, and cheerful; to be free from worry, and to sleep well at night.
– A good personality because a mind filled with Punna is not given to covetousness or aggressiveness. One is self-confident and dignified. One feels at ease under any social circumstances.
- ระดับวิถีชีวิต สิ่งต่างๆ ในชีวิตของเราเป็นผลมาจากบุญและบาปที่เราได้ทำมาตั้งแต่ภพชาติก่อน ๆ จนถึงภพชาติปัจจุบัน หากเรามีบุญมากชีวิตก็จะราบรื่นสะดวกสบาย แต่ถ้ามีบุญน้อย มีบาปมาก ชีวิตก็จะลำบาก ติดๆ ขัดๆ อุปมาเหมือนเรือแล่นในคลอง
- At the Personal Life Level: Everything in life is caused by the Punna (merit) and Papa (demerit) accumulated in one’s previous existences up until the present time. If one possesses a large amount of merit, one’s life tends to be comfortable and easy. If one possesses a large amount of demerit but a small amount of merit, one’s life will be filled with difficulty. Life can be compared to a boat moving along the canal.
บุญ เปรียบเสมือนน้ำในคลอง
บาป เปรียบเสมือนตอที่อยู่ใต้น้ำ
ชีวิตของเรา เปรียบเสมือนเรือที่แล่นไปบนน้ำ
Merit is like water in the canal.
Demerit is like the stumps under the water.
Life is like a boat moving along the canal.
ถ้ามีบุญน้อยก็เสมือนคลองที่มีน้ำน้อย ตอก็ผุด เรือก็ติด จะประกอบธุรกิจการงานใดๆ ก็ติดขัดไปหมด
แต่ถ้ามีบุญมากก็เสมือนน้ำในคลองมาก ตอที่อยู่ใต้น้ำก็ทำอะไรไม่ได้ เรือก็แล่นไปได้อย่างสะดวก เหมือนชีวิตที่ราบรื่นก้าวหน้า ไม่มีอุปสรรค ธุรกิจรุ่งเรือง เงินทองไหลมาเทมา เป็นต้น
A small amount of merit is like a canal with a low level of water which exposes all the stumps in the canal bed and makes it difficult for the boat to navigate. A small amount of merit makes for a life of hardship.
A large amount of merit is like a canal filled with a high level of water which keeps all of the stumps in the canal bed immersed and makes it easy for the boat to navigate. A large amount of merit makes for a life of ease and comfort.
การที่เราทำดีแล้ววิถีชีวิตของเราจะดีเต็มที่หรือไม่นั้น ขึ้นกับบุญ-บาปในอดีต ที่เราเคยทำไว้ด้วย ทำให้บางคนเข้าใจผิด คิดว่าทำดีแล้วไม่ได้ดี เพราะบางครั้งขณะที่เราตั้งใจทำความดีอยู่ กลับถูกใส่ร้ายป้ายสี หรือประสบเคราะห์กรรม แท้จริงแล้วที่เป็นเช่นนี้ก็เพราะในขณะนั้น ผลบาปที่เราเคยทำในอดีตกำลังส่งผลอยู่ บุญที่ทำเลยส่งผลได้ไม่เต็มที่ แต่บุญที่ทำในปัจจุบันนี้ย่อมไม่ไร้ผล รอส่งผลที่ดีให้ในเวลาที่สมควร
But whether or not one’s life will be filled with ease and comfort after one has performed wholesome deeds depends on the level of Punna (merit) and Papa (demerit) accumulated in one’s previous existences. Some people think that good deeds do not always beget good results because they continue to have a hard time even though they have always been good people. This situation is caused by the fact that the demerit accumulated in their previous lives is still bearing fruits making it not possible for their accumulated merit to work for them just yet. They should take heart and continue to accumulate merit, for one day their accumulated merit will have its opportunity to bear fruits.
- ระดับสังคม เมื่อเราทำความดีอย่างเต็มที่ ไม่ว่าจะไปอยู่สังคมใดจะได้รับความยอมรับนับถือ ได้เป็นผู้นำ และสามารถแนะนำสมาชิกในสังคมให้ทำความดีตามเรามาด้วย สังคมจึงสงบร่มเย็นและเจริญก้าวหน้าขึ้นตามลำดับ
- At the Social Level: A person who endeavors to perform as much wholesomeness as possible will be respected by the people of his community. He is likely to assume a position of leadership that allows him to encourage others in the community to perform wholesome deeds alongside him. In time, they will be able to create a more peaceful and prosperous community.
คุณสมบัติของ “บุญ”
Punna and Its Characteristics
บุญมีคุณสมบัติ 5 ประการด้วยกัน คือ
ประการที่ 1 “บุญ” นำความสุขมาให้
ประการที่ 2 “บุญ” สะสมได้ เหมือนน้ำที่หยดลงในภาชนะทีละหยด ค่อยๆ สั่งสมไปก็มากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ เมื่อเราสั่งบุญมากเข้า ก็จะเป็นผลให้ชีวิตเราราบรื่นและประสบความสำเร็จได้
ประการที่ 3 “บุญ” อุทิศให้แก่หมู่ญาติที่ล่วงลับไปแล้วได้ และสามารถแปรเปลี่ยนสภาพชีวิตของหมู่ญาติที่ล่วงลับไปแล้วให้ดีขึ้นได้ จากที่มีทุกข์มากก็ทุกข์น้อย ที่ทุกข์น้อยก็พ้นทุกข์ ที่สุขน้อยก็สุขมาก ที่สุขมากก็มีสุขยิ่งๆขึ้นไป
ประการที่ 4 “บุญ” เป็นของเฉพาะตน ไม่ใช่ของสาธารณะแก่คนทั่วไป ภัยใดๆ ไม่สามารถทำอันตรายได้ ใครๆ มาแย่งบุญจากเราไปไม่ได้ เป็นของผู้ทำเท่านั้น ใครทำคนนั้นก็ได้ ถ้าไม่ทำก็ไม่ได้
ประการที่ 5 “บุญ” ติดตามตัวไปในภพเบื้องหน้าได้ ประดุจเงาที่ติดตามตัวไปในทุกที่ทุกสถาน
Punna or merit has five characteristics as follows.
- Punna is the source of happiness.
- Punna can be accumulated in the same way that drops of water can be collected. The more Punna is accumulated, the better one’s life will be.
- Punna can be dedicated to departed loved ones to help improve the condition of their lives in the hereafter. Those who are currently encountering tremendous suffering will receive less suffering. Those who are encountering less suffering will no longer suffer. Those who are experiencing less happiness will experience more happiness. Those who are experiencing more happiness will experience even greater happiness.
- Punna belongs to each person. No harm and no one can damage or steal one’s accumulated merit.
- Punna can follow a person to future existences.
ทำอย่างไรจึงจะได้บุญ
The Accumulation of Punna
บุญเกิดจากการทำความดี ซึ่งทำได้ทั้งทางกาย วาจา และใจ สามารถจำแนกวิธีการทำบุญได้ 10 ประการ ดังนี้
Punna or merit arises from physical, verbal, and mental deeds that are wholesome and there are ten ways to accumulate Punna as follows.
- แบ่งปันสิ่งของ ให้กำลังกาย ให้ความรู้ความสามารถ เพื่อช่วยเหลือผู้อื่น
- Sharing what one has with others be it one’s things, time, effort, or knowledge to help others.
- รักษาศีล ไม่ทำความชั่วหรือไปทำร้ายผู้อื่นทั้งทางกายและวาจา
- Observing the Precepts to prevent one from committing unwholesome deeds or harming others physically or verbally.
- ทำสมาธิ เพื่ออบรมจิตใจให้ละจากกิเลส
- Practicing meditation to keep one’s mind clean and clear.
- อ่อนน้อมถ่อมตนต่อผู้มีวัยวุฒิ คุณวุฒิที่สูงกว่าเรา
- Practicing humility.
- ขวนขวายในการงานที่เป็นสัมมาอาชีวะและทำความดีที่เกิดประโยชน์ต่อส่วนรวม
- Earning right the livelihood and doing things for the good of the general public.
- อุทิศบุญกุศลที่เราได้ทำไว้ให้แก่สรรพสัตว์ทั้งปวง
- Dedicate one’s earned Punna to all living beings.
- ยินดี ยอมรับ หรือขอมีส่วนร่วมในความดีที่ผู้อื่นได้ทำแล้ว ด้วยใจที่ปีติยินดี
- Feeling altruistic joy at other people’s accomplishment and performance of wholesome deeds.
- ตั้งใจฟังธรรม จนเกิดปัญญาหรือความรู้ และนำไปใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อตนเองและผู้อื่น
- Attending Dhamma lectures and putting what one has learnt into practice for the good of one’s self and those around him.
- แสดงธรรม เพื่อให้ผู้ฟังสามารถนำไปพัฒนาหรือแก้ไขอุปนิสัยที่ไม่ดีของตน เพื่อให้ชีวิตมีความสุข ความสำเร็จ ความดีงาม เป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีต่อไป
- Giving Dhamma lectures and helping one’s audience to put what they have learnt into practice so that they can meet with success and happiness in life.
- ทำความเห็นให้ตรง (สัมมาทิฏฐิ) คือ มีความเข้าใจเรื่องบุญบาป สิ่งที่เป็นสาระและไม่เป็นสาระในชีวิต เข้าใจเรื่องราวของโลกและชีวิตได้ตรงไปตามความเป็นจริง
- Cultivating Right View by having the right understanding about the reality of life, Punna (merit) and Papa (demerit), as well as what has substance and what does not.

Examples of the Fruits of Punna
– บุญจากการให้ทาน ทำให้ร่ำรวย มีโภคทรัพย์มาก
– The Punna earned from alms-giving blesses one with great material wealth.
– บุญจากการให้ทานด้วยข้าวปลาอาหาร ทำให้มีพลานามัยสมบูรณ์
– The Punna earned from giving food to others blesses one with good health.
– บุญจากการรักษาศีล และให้ทานด้วยเสื้อผ้าเครื่องนุ่งห่ม ทำให้มีผิวพรรณงาม
– The Punna earned from observing the Precepts and giving clothing to others blesses one with a fine complexion.
– บุญจากการไม่ฆ่าสัตว์ตัดชีวิต ทำให้มีอายุยืน
– The Punna earned from not killing other beings blesses one with longevity.
– บุญจากการมีเมตตา ไม่รังแกหรือทรมานสัตว์ ทำให้ไม่มีโรคภัยไข้เจ็บ
– The Punna earned from not harming or abusing other beings blesses one with a strong constitution.
– บุญจากการคบบัณฑิต ฝึกสมาธิ ไม่ดื่มสุรายาเมา ทำให้ฉลาด มีสติปัญญาดี
– The Punna earned from keeping the company of wise and right-viewed persons, from not consuming alcohol and other addictive substances blesses one with cleverness and intelligence.
– บุญจากการบูชาบุคคลที่ควรบูชา ทำให้เกิดในตระกูลสูง
– The Punna earned from being respectful to those who deserve respect blesses one with high birth.
– บุญจากการมีมุทิตาจิต ใครทำความดี ก็อนุโมทนา ไม่อิจฉาริษยาใคร ทำให้มีอำนาจ มีคนเกรงใจ
– The Punna earned from expressing altruistic joy in others’ performance of wholesome deeds without any feeling of envy or jealousy blesses one with influence and power.
เมื่อเรารู้แล้วว่าบุญเป็นเบื้องหลังความสุขและความสำเร็จของชีวิต เราจึงควรทำความดีในทุกๆ ด้าน เพื่อให้ตัวเรา ครอบครัว บุคคลรอบข้าง และสังคม ได้พบกับความสุข ความสำเร็จ อันเป็นสุดยอดปรารถนาของทุกคน
Now that one knows how Punna is the source of happiness and success in life, one should endeavor to perform every kind of wholesome deed so that one can meet with happiness and success in one’s life. One can then help those around him to also meet with happiness and success in their lives.
การทำความดีเป็นการสร้างบุญ เท่ากับการสร้างคุณค่าชีวิตด้วยการสั่งสมคุณธรรมคุณความดี การสร้างบุญมากขึ้นๆ เปรียบเหมือนเราเก็บรวบรวมทรัพย์สินเงินทองไว้ใช้ ความสุขจากการทำความดีทำให้จิตใจผ่องใสมีพลังบวก ดึงดูดให้คนดีอยากเข้าใกล้ ทำสิ่งใดที่ดีๆก็มีแต่ผู้สนับสนุนให้ความร่วมมือ ชีวิตย่อมเป็นสุขประสบความสำเร็จได้
