Ten\nDuties of A Bhikkhu <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Do the alms round to serve as a\nfield of pu\u00f1\u00f1a for lay people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Look after the cleanliness of the\ntemple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Confess their failures to observe\ncertain precepts to another bhikkhu or to a bhikkhu congregation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Perform chanting and meditation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Contemplate on the true purpose of\nfood, saffron robes, residences and medicine before using or consuming them i.e.\nto enable one to maintain healthy bodily functions in order to use this\nphysical body to make pu\u00f1\u00f1a, develop virtuous qualities, and refine one\u2019s\ncharacter \u2013 all in the pursuit of Nibb\u0101na. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Look after bhikkhu teachers and\noffer assistance to bhikkhu mentors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Organize things in order to\nmaintain the clean and orderly appearance of the temple. Look after the\ncleanliness and health of one\u2019s own body. Maintain a clean and respectable\nappearance of oneself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Undertake a theoretical study of\nDhamma. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Offer cooperation and assistance in\nthe affairs of the temple and in the common affairs of bhikkhus in their\nrespective  communities\/societies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Behave respectably to uphold the\npublic faith in Buddhism and the Sa\u1e45gha in general as well as to maintain inner\npeace and minimize conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
