Before receiving the blessing,\/ please softly close your eyes,\/ relax your entire body, \/gently rest your attention at the center of the body \/ or at the middle point of the abdomen. \/ Then please take a moment to fill your mind \/ with joy and merit \/ that you have properly done today.<\/p>\n

Since the Buddha time, the monastic community and the lay community will support each other in their livings. Since lay people need to work hard in order to find enough money for their living, then they have less time to study spiritual knowledge for their happy and peaceful life. And with the support of the lay community, monks will have more available time to study spiritual knowledge and give that knowledge in return to the lay community.
\nLuang Phaw Dhammjayo, the Abbot of Dhammakaya temple in Thailand has explained this \u201cBuddhist Symbiosis\u201d in a very simple way that \u201cThe monks give their stomachs for lay people to take care and lay people give their mind to the monks to take care\u201d. So both communities could help each other and live together in peace.
\nAt this time, \/ the monastic community would like to rejoice in your merits.\/ On behalf of all the monks assembled here,\/ I would humbly like to invite \/ the Power of every Buddha in Nirvana, \/ the power of all the Dhamma,\/ the power of all the Sangha,\/ the power of the Triple Gem \/
\nMay all of these power and perfection combine together \/ accrue utmost merit to all of you, \/
\nmay you be happy and healthy,\/ successful and wealthy,\/ be strong and live long,\/ may all your good wishes come true easily,\/ and may all good things come to you.\/ May you attain the inner peace \/ and happiness of the Dhamma inside quickly and easily, without delay \/in this and every lifetime \/until reaching Utmost Dhamma.\/

\nBy giving, one is like a siam tulip that repels water so impurity like greed can\u2019t penetrate.

\nGiving is the basis of happiness for the person who has conquered his miserliness, because most people are dominated by stinginess. But once we eliminate the stinginess, with the hope that the things we\u2019ve donated will benefit others, happiness and a stream of positive consequences will replace the stinginess rooted in our heart. Making sacrifices and continuing to be a giver are signs of a victor.
\n\u5e03\u65bd\u662f\u6218\u80dc\u541d\u556c\u540e\u83b7\u53d6\u7684\u5feb\u4e50\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u8bb8\u591a\u4eba\u90fd\u88ab\u541d\u556c\u6240\u675f\u7f1a\u3002\u5018\u82e5\u6211\u4eec\u80fd\u6d88\u9664\u5185\u5fc3\u7684\u541d\u556c\u548c\u4e0d\u820d\uff0c\u6ee1\u6000\u5584\u613f\u5730\u884c\u5e03\u65bd\uff0c\u5fc5\u7136\u4f1a\u83b7\u5f97\u610f\u60f3\u4e0d\u5230\u7684\u76ca\u5904\u3002\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4f1a\u6536\u83b7\u5e78\u798f\uff0c\u529f\u5fb7\u7684\u529b\u91cf\u4e5f\u4f1a\u6d88\u9664\u5185\u5fc3\u7684\u541d\u556c\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u5e38\u884c\u5e03\u65bd\u8005\uff0c\u5fc5\u7136\u662f\u6c38\u8fdc\u7684\u80dc\u5229\u8005\u3002

\nKind benefactors who have gathered to accumulate merit by offering food (Sanghadana) to the monastic community, an excellent fertile field of merit, will earn tremendous merit. They are comparable to seasoned farmers sowing rice seedlings in a fertile field that will yield a bountiful harvest.
\n\u8bf8\u4f4d\u65bd\u4e3b\uff0c\u9f50\u5fc3\u884c\u5927\u5e03\u65bd\uff0c\u4f9b\u517b\u5353\u8d8a\u7684\u798f\u7530\u2014\u2014\u50e7\u56e2\u3002\u5fc5\u7136\u4f1a\u83b7\u5f97\u65e0\u91cf\u7684\u529f\u5fb7\u5229\u76ca\uff0c\u80dc\u8fc7\u5176\u4ed6\u4efb\u4f55\u7684\u529f\u5fb7\u3002\u8fd9\u5c31\u597d\u50cf\u7ecf\u9a8c\u4e30\u5bcc\u7684\u519c\u6c11\uff0c\u628a\u79be\u82d7\u64ad\u79cd\u5728\u80a5\u6c83\u7684\u571f\u58e4\u4e0a\uff0c\u6700\u7ec8\u5fc5\u5c06\u4e94\u8c37\u4e30\u767b\u3002<\/p>\n

\nThe Lord Buddha said that generosity from a virtuous person is the act of giving from a wholesome person who\u2019s endowed with wisdom and is astute in leading his life. It comprises of eight factors as follows:
\n\u4f5b\u9640\u5982\u662f\u6559\u8bf2\uff1a\u5584\u58eb\u65bd\u6307\u8d24\u8005\u3001\u5584\u8005\u4e4b\u5e03\u65bd\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u667a\u6167\u8fc7\u6d3b\uff0c\u4ee5\u5584\u5de7\u65b9\u5f0f\u65bd\u820d\uff0c\u5c06\u5177\u5907\u4e94\u79cd\u7279\u8d28\uff1a

\n\u4e00\u3001\u8654\u8bda\u65bd\uff1a\u575a\u4fe1\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u5e03\u65bd\uff0c\u5fc5\u7136\u4f1a\u6709\u5584\u62a5\uff0c\u4e0d\u4f1a\u6d88\u5931\u3002<\/p>\n

\n\u4e8c\u3001\u606d\u656c\u65bd\uff1a\u606d\u656c\u5c06\u8981\u4f9b\u517b\u7684\u7269\u54c1\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u5c0a\u91cd\u53d7\u4f9b\u8005\u3002

\nKnowing the results of giving<\/p>\n

The Buddha once said:
\n\u201cBhikkhus, if beings knew, as I know, the result of giving and sharing, they would not eat without having given, nor would they allow the stain of meanness to obsess them and take root in their minds. Even if it were their last morsel, their last mouthful, they would not eat without having shared it, if there were someone to share it with.\u201d
\nWhen we do good deeds with a joyful heart, we may feel a sense of joy in doing so. This feeling points to a fundamental truth about our mind, which the Buddha discovered: whenever we do something good, energy is stored up in our mind that we call merit. This merit helps to make our mind clear and bright. This is an energy that everyone can learn about, by simply doing good deeds like generosity, helpfulness and meditation on an everyday basis.
\nNot only does merit create joy and peace in our mind as our mind grows clearer, it also attracts good things in our life such as wise friends, a good health, and even wealth. When we experience success and happiness as the result of merit, it therefore becomes easier for us to do good, because we have more means, and more inspiration to do so. Therefore, there is nothing to fear about doing good deeds: the results of our good deeds on ourselves and others are much stronger than we might at first think.
\nAll of you have come here today to practice good deeds, aware of how important such deeds are to ourselves and others.<\/p>\n

\nBuddhism is sustained through giving<\/p>\n

Luang Pu Wat Paknam once gave a teaching: \u201cBuddhism is sustained through giving. If every household in the entire country were to stop giving food for a month or so, Buddhism would cease to exist. Monks and novices would all disrobe without exception. Why? Because of not giving. Giving is very important. Everyone\u2019s life is sustained by giving. In the scriptures, the Buddha therefore said: \u201ca donor who gives food gives the recipients five things. (\u2026) One gives life, beauty, happiness, strength, and discernment.\u201d \u201d
\nIn our daily lives, when we give something to someone, we often don\u2019t realize that in giving something material, we also give many immaterial things, some of which are difficult to obtain. When we give food to someone, we also give strength \u2013 the strength to get up, walk to those in need and help them out; the strength to smile and give encouragement to those who are in despair; but also the physical and mental strength to meditate and teach.
\nToday you have come to offer food to the Sangha, and in that you have made it possible for the monks to work another day \u2013 to teach themselves and to teach others, both of which the world needs more than anything. By that, you are doing a good kamma, and the things you have given, strong health in body and mind to do good, will come back to you naturally. For it is the law of nature, that good always comes to those who do good, without exception.<\/p>\n
