\nToday is Vesak Day. It is the Buddha\u2019s Day which is one of the most important Buddhist days. It is the Day of Buddhism. The world gives importance to Vesak Day and the United Nations has appointed it as an International Day. So, we Buddhists have to place great importance on Vesak Day because it constitutes 3 amazing anniversaries of the Buddha which are the Buddha\u2019s Birthday, Enlightenment Day and Death Day.

\nIn general, we know that the Lord Buddha was physically born in Lumbini Garden, was enlightened under the Pho tree, and passed away in Kushinagar. That is to say that the Buddha\u2019s birthplace, enlightenment place, and death place are different. But in another respect, His birth, enlightenment, and death were in the same place which was the 7th Base of the Buddha\u2019s body. He had left Dusita Heaven, entered the Buddha\u2019s Father\u2019s right nostril, then he moved through each base until stopping at the 7th Base of the Body of the Buddha\u2019s Father. When His Father and Mother had intercourse, the inner body of the Bodhisattva moved from the 7th Base of the Body of His Father to the 6-5-4-3-2-1 bases, entered to His Mother\u2019s nostril and went through each base until stopping at the 7th Base of His Mother\u2019s Body. Then His physical body, received from His Mother, enveloped His inner body; His fertilization was complete. He developed in her body and in the proper time he arrived and His Mother delivered. And a miracle happened! As soon as He came out of His Mother\u2019s Body, He walked 7 steps and gave His First Speech, that He was the best and noblest man in the world.

\nLater, he grew up and studied from the best teachers in the world. He graduated in 18 fields of education within 7 days. When his perfections yielded fruit, he decided to ordain as an ascetic to seek the way to freedom from suffering. On the 15th waxing moon day of the 6th lunar month under the Pho tree on the bank of Neranjara River, He made the determination to sacrifice his life for enlightenment and finally, he was able to conquer the Great Mara by his full 30 perfections. He stopped his mind completely at the 7th base of his body and attained dhamma consequently. That is He attained the Stream\u2013Enterer Dhamma Body during 6:00-10:00 p.m. He attained Pubbeniv\u0101s\u0101nussati\u00f1\u0101\u0146a so he was able to recollect the previous lifetimes. He attained Non-Returner Dhamma Body during 10:00 p.m. \u2013 2:00 a.m. He attained Cut\u016bpap\u0101ta\u00f1\u0101\u0146a so he knew the decease and rebirth of beings and their rebirth. And He attained \u0100savakkhaya\u00f1\u0101\u0146a so he was able to get rid of all defilements. He enlightened as the Lord Buddha and Buddhism began. It began at the 7th Base of His Body. So Vesak Day is the Day of Buddhism.

\nThe Lord Buddha had nice behavior for his whole life. When he was close to passing away, He gave the final sermon that all component things in the world are changeable. They are not lasting. Work hard to gain your own salvation. \u2018Work hard\u2019 means: Don\u2019t let your mind stray away from the 7th Base of the Body, like him so you will be free from the sufferings and reach Nirvana like him as well. Therefore, the 7th Base of the body is very important. You all should still your minds there. Today is the Lord Buddha\u2019s Day, we should recall him all the time. This is how to pay respect the Buddha so our minds should be still, softly and comfortably.
