Once enough cloth was collected, the monks would clean, wash, cut, sew, and dye it to make either a robe or the inner and outer garments. It was quite a time consuming process. Anuruddha Thera, who possessed an old robe, was combing through several mounds of pulp looking for rags to make a robe. Anuruddha searching for rags. So she made the intention to offer three pieces of robes, 13 cubits long and 4 cubits wide. Anurudha will have to walk pass. When she placed the robe down, she made sure that the hem stuck out so it could be seen readily. And Ven. Anuruddha did notice the celestial robe. They would purposely leave fabric at various locations, such as on trees, trash piles in the woods, or the side of the road, etc. The givers believed that the monks would pass over these regions thinking, &#8220;This cloth has been abandoned.&#8221; He was both a royal physician to King Bimbisara of Maghada&#8217;s royal court and a physician to the Buddha. Jivaka was given two magnificent gold fabrics from Kasi Kingdom, which are extremely fine, exquisite fabrics reserved for monarchs that ordinary people would not have access to, as a royal prize after tending to Lord Chandapajchot&#8217;s afflictions until he recovered. Jivaka believed that such exquisite fabric was more appropriate for the Buddha or the monarch and not for himself.
